Summer In America With Dreamer Boy
Zach Taylor, a talented artist better known as Dreamer Boy, has embarked on a tour with his band, the LoneStars, by his side to promote his latest album, LoneStar. During his tour, he recently had the exciting opportunity to showcase his music at Lost Lake, a popular venue in Denver, Colorado. Special guests, singer/songwriter Harriette, The Band Mercury, and Nite Fire, opened for Zach and his band.
The new album Lonestar by Dreamer Boy, released under Capitol Records, represents a two-year journey of self-discovery for singer-songwriter Zach Taylor. Moving from Nashville to Los Angeles, Taylor found inspiration in his travels across the country, particularly reconnecting with his Southern roots during visits to Texas, Alabama, and Tennessee. This marks the first full project release by the artist since the debut of "All The Ways We Are Together" in 2021 under Harvest/slowplay Records. The record label is distributed through Universal Music Group. In the album, Taylor takes us on an emotional journey, starting with feelings of uncertainty and heartbreak in the opening track "Summer in America." The lyrics and melody reflect his inner turmoil and his struggles. As the album progresses, we witness a transformation in Taylor's emotions, culminating in the closing song, "Harmony," which portrays a sense of contentment and new beginnings.
“You’re literally, like, Get me out of my parent’s house and into the world. But then you start to run back to some of those things. It’s about building yourself as a person in the turbulence of a breakup, which involves looking back, feeling a little lost, a little heartbroken, and a little nostalgic. But ultimately, there is clarity when you figure out what makes you really yourself, even if it might change.”
Taylor reflects on his emotional journey throughout the album, from the uncertainty and heartbreak expressed in the opening track "Summer in America" to the contentment and new beginnings portrayed in the closing song "Harmony." He also discusses his musical evolution, and the creation of a persona inspired by artists like David Bowie and Tyler, the Creator, embodying a rodeo clown who has transitioned from Texas to Hollywood. Ultimately, Lonestar is a record of self-discovery and growth. Taylor describes it as a journey of running away from and returning to one's roots, navigating the turbulence of a breakup, and ultimately finding clarity in realizing what truly defines oneself, even as it continues to evolve.
My experience at Dreamer Boy's performance at Lost Lake was genuinely unforgettable. One of the aspects that truly makes this album remarkable is the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia that it evokes. It feels like the perfect soundtrack for a coming-of-age movie, resonating with the audience in an intensely personal way. The band's performance was extraordinary, with each member seamlessly complementing one another and elevating the storytelling prowess of the songs even without vocals.
